Right in the beating heart of West Hollywood, on the Sunset Strip, living and breathing for over 100 years, stands the Sunset Tower Hotel. It first opened as an apartment building in 1929 , and like the owner, who is onsite daily, says, “like any good Hollywood starlet, yes, she has had some work done", since then. It was converted into a luxury hotel in the 1980's, in 2004 it was updated, keeping the classic charm of the Art Deco days. Most recently, in 2018, owner Jeff Klein gave "the lady" another refresh.  Offering 80 luxurious, light and airy rooms, including 30 expansive suites, she’s certainly a Hollywood icon.

The Sunset Tower is actually a Hollywood landmark. Up to the 1950s it was as much a tourist attraction as the Hollywood sign itself. It has appeared in a number of films, including The Italian Job, Get Shorty, The Player and Strange Days. Former residents of note include Howard Hughes, John Wayne, Marilyn Monroe, Elizabeth Taylor, and Frank Sinatra. Truman Capote lived there at one point, saying at the time, "I am living in a very posh establishment, The Sunset Tower, which, or so the local gentry tell me...is where every scandal that ever happened, happened."

The Tower Bar & Restaurant is famous in Los Angeles, known to be frequented by many celebrities. Be cool though, people have been known to be thrown out for taking photos of such guests. The dark, alluring, and intimate atmosphere here epitomizes old-Hollywood glamor. You’ll enjoy the laid back atmosphere, and they have great tequila, a terrific wine list and a menu that will have you eating too much. Hotel guests get priority seating, but be sure to book.
