Splendido Mare is a charming 14-room guest house located in the heart of Portofino, right on the harbor front and the town’s main Piazzetta. The little sister hotel to the iconic Belmond Splendido (just up the hill), which boasts 70-rooms. Re-designed in 2021 by Festen Architecture, the hotel takes inspiration from the nautical spirit of the storied, and charming surrounding village—evident in the rope detailing on the bed frames, and the terracotta wave-like tiles. This hotel is for folks who want to stay in luxury whilst immersing themselves in the local culture, here you’re right on the water, for which you’ll enjoy views from your room or suite. You’re in good (cinematic history) company—just a smattering of the Hollywood stars who found sanctuary in Portofino are Rita Hayworth, Clark Gable, Greta Garbo and Humphrey Bogart.

The intimacy continues at both Bar DaV and the casual, yet fine-dining restaurant, DaV Mare with incomparable service, the harbor side eatery is where friends and family can gather and feel like they're coming home. Guests can also stop by and indulge at Gelateria San Giorgio along the Piazzetta for an ice-cream cone or local gelato.

Additionally, the facilities at the larger Splendido are accessible for guests here, including, the spa, tennis courts, fitness center, and (our personal favorite) saltwater pool. A complimentary shuttle bus runs between both properties, as well as Bagni Fiore beach around the corner in Paraggi.
